Lake Titicaca is the world’s largest navigable lake. It is located on the high plains of southeastern Peru and its fertile shores and picturesque islands have been inhabited for thousands of years. The ancient cultures that settled the region left behind a rich archaeological legacy.
We will visit the lake and explore its living culture including the floating reed islands of Uros and the traditional communities on the islands of Amantani and Taquile, where many customs dating back to the Inca period have been preserved. We will be staying overnight in the homes of the local people which offers the chance to learn more about their daily life, traditions, and customs.
