Arequipa is a neo-colonial city of white volcanic stone known as “The white city”. Located at 2,380 meters (7,850 feet) above sea level in a fertile, irrigated valley surrounded by desert between the Andes and Peru’s Pacific coast.
The canyons of Colca and Cotahuasi can be reached easily from Arequipa. At more than 3,400 meters (11,220 feet) deep, they are considered the deepest canyons in the world, and they are home to traditional Andean culture and native fauna, including the amazing Condors.

Day 2: Arequipa – Colca Canyon
After breakfast we will begin our bus trip through the volcanic landscape of this part of southern Peru. We will be passing wild herds of Alpacas and Vicuñas, and we will stop often at viewing points to admire the surrounding landscape. Around noon we will arrive at the village of Chivay. After checking in to the hotel you will have plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing visit to the natural hot springs of “La Calera”, near the village, before returning to the Lodge for a good night’s rest.
Day 3: Colca Canyon – Arequipa
We will start our day early with a morning bus ride to famous “Cruz del Condor”. Standing on the edge of the abyss, we will have mesmerizing views of Colca Canyon. This is the best place to observe majestic condors in their natural habitat, as they rise from the valley on the morning thermals. We will have plenty of time to enjoy this spectacular sight before returning to Chivay and then to Arequipa, arriving in the city at nightfall.
