Day 1: Cusco
Upon arrival in Cusco, we will provide assistance and transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 2: Cusco- City Tour
In the morning, we will explore the magical capital of the Incas on a tour of all of Cusco’s main sites. As we roam about the narrow streets of Cusco’s old town, we will make stops at all the major sites including a visit to the Plaza de Armas (Main Square), the Cathedral, Santo Domingo Monastery or the sun temple of the Incas called Qoricancha.
After seeing the most interesting sites of the city, you will be driven into the country side outside Cusco to visit some of the remarkable Inca buildings in the area. They include the cult centre of Sacsayhuaman, Temple and sacred place of Q’enko, and the red fortress of Pucapucara.
Day 3: Cusco – Aguas Calientes
Our day starts when we pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am, we then head to the archaeological site of Moray, The site consists of several enormous terraced circular the depressions was possibly used by the Inca to study the effects of different climatic conditions on crops. In other words, Moray was perhaps an Inca agricultural experiment station.
Our next destination is a tour of the Salineras of Maras. Maras is another Inca-colonial town where you can see the gates of 17th century colonial houses. The vast network of irrigation channels and polygon ponds make this place an ideal photo shoot. Salt has been obtained here since Pre-Inca times by evaporating salty water from the nearby subterranean stream. To this day salt production continues.
We will descend back down the mountain and make our way to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with international and typical Peruvian cuisine and then continue on to the most important stop on the tour, Ollantaytambo.
Ollantaytambo is one of the most beautiful and historically significant sites in the entire Cusco region. At a distance of 47 mi / 76 km from Cusco, it is a very interesting town with a grand display of well-preserved Inca ruins. We will visit the unfinished temples high above the village on the mountainside.
After our tour of the Ollantaytambo, we will take a stunning 90 minute train ride through the various micro climates to Aguas Calientes. Once in Aguas Calientes, you will be shown to your hotel.
Day 4: Machupicchu – Cusco
After an early morning rise and a healthy breakfast, we take the 30 minute bus ride up to the Machu Picchu complex, where we will tour the amazing site with its spectacular architecture and mysterious temples, which were left behind by the Incas. A professional, English-speaking guide will help us understand the sophisticated ideas and technology of this highly-advanced culture as we make our way around the immense ruins. Once the official tour is completed, we will have plenty of time to explore the Sanctuary on our own before returning to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
Day 5: Cusco-Lima
Transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima for your journey home or connecting flight to continue your travels.
